What is this medication?
Lymphocyte Function-Associated Antigen 1 (LFA-1) Antagonist
Indicated for treatment of dry eye disease.
How does this medication work?
Lifitegrast, Xiidra binds to the integrin lymphocyte function-associated antigen-1 (LFA-1) and blocks the interaction of LFA-1 with its cognate ligand intercellular adhesion molecule-1 (ICAM-1).
How should I take this medication?
Ophthalmic: Instill 1 drop into each eye every 12 hours.
How to Take: For topical ophthalmic use only. Remove contact lenses prior to administration and wait 15 minutes before reinserting.
You Need to Avoid: Do not touch the eye or surrounding area or any surface with the dropper tip to avoid contamination; discard single use container and unused solution after administration.
What should I watch for while using this medication?
Before starting Lifitegrast, Xiidra make sure your physician is aware of any allergies or medications you currently take, if you are pregnant, or breastfeeding.
What if I miss a dose?
If you miss a dose of this medicine, apply it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule.
How should I store this medication?
Keep out of the reach of children at all times. Store single-use containers in the original foil pouch at room temperature 20°C to 25°C (68°F to 77°F), away from heat, moisture, and direct light.
What are the possible side effects of using this medication?
Dysgeusia, application site irritation, decreased visual acuity
