Indicated for treatment of glaucoma.
How does this medication work?
Travoprost, Travatan Z is a synthetic prostaglandin analog that works by increasing the outflow of aqueous fluid from the eye reducing intraocular pressure.
How should I take this medication?
Usual (Ophthalmic): Instill 1 drop into the affected eye(s) once daily in the evening; do not exceed once-daily dosing.
How to Take: Remove contact eye lenses prior to administration and wait 15 minutes (after administration) before reinserting. Minimize contamination by not touching the eyelids or surrounding areas with the dropper tip; keep the bottle tightly closed when not in use. Travoprost, Travatan Z ophthalmic solution can be used with other eye dropper medications to lower intraocular pressure.
What should I watch for while using this medication?
Before starting Travoprost, Travatan Z make sure your physician is aware of any allergies or medications you currently take, and current medical conditions. Travoprost, Travatan Z can cause bacterial keratitis, changes in eye color, and ocular inflammation. Travoprost, Travatan Z ophthalmic solution should be used with caution in patients with aphakia, herpetic keratitis, and uveitis.
What if I miss a dose?
If you miss a dose of this medicine, apply it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule. Do not apply a double dose to make up for a missed one.
How should I store this medication?
Keep out of the reach of children at all times. Store at room temperature 2°C to 25°C (36°F-77°F) protected from light, heat, and moisture.
Do not leave the top/lid off the bottle for any length of time to avoid contaminating the eye drops.
What are the possible side effects of using this medication?
Ocular hyperemia, angina pectoris, bradycardia, chest pain, hypertension, hypotension, foreign body sensation of the eye, reduced visual acuity, eye discomfort, eye pain, eye pruritis, cataracts, corneal staining, dry eye syndrome, anxiety, depression, headache, pain, hyperpigmentation of eyelashes, increased growth in number of eyelashes, hypercholesterolemia, dyspepsia, urinary incontinence, bronchitis, sinusitis and infection.
