How does this medication work?
Fesoterodine, Toviaz is a competitive muscarinic receptor antagonist and inhibits the smooth muscle surrounding the bladder from contracting which prevents symptoms such as urgency and frequency.
How should I take this medication?
Oral: 4mg to 8mg daily.
How to Take: Can be taken with or without food. Swallow whole and do not crush, chew or divide/split.
What should I watch for while using this medication?
Before starting Fesoterodine, Toviaz make sure your physician is aware of any allergies and medications you currently take. Anticholinergic drugs may cause drowsiness, dizziness, headache, and/or blurred vision, which may impair physical or mental abilities; patients must be cautioned about performing tasks which require mental alertness.
What if I miss a dose?
If you miss a dose of medication, try to take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, take only that scheduled dose. Do not take double or extra doses.
How should I store this medication?
Keep out of the reach of children at all times. Store at room temperature, 59 to 86° F (15 to 30° C). Protect from light. Keep the container tightly closed. Properly dispose of any unused medication after the expiration date.
What are the possible side effects of using this medication?
Xerostomia, constipation, dyspepsia, urinary tract infection, back pain, dry eye syndrome, upper respiratory tract infection, cough, dry throat.
