What is this medication?
Skeletal Muscle Relaxant
Methocarbamol, Robaximol/Robaxin is indicated for treatment of muscle spasms.
How does this medication work?
Methocarbamol, Robaximol/Robaxin causes skeletal muscle relaxation by general CNS depression
How should I take this medication?
Oral: 1.5 g 3 to 4 times daily for 2 to 3 days (up to 8 g/day may be given in severe conditions), then decrease to 750 mg to 1.5 g 3 to 4 times daily (up to 4.5 g/day)
Take without regard to meals. Do not use Methocarbamol, Robaximol/Robaxin for more than a few days in a row, and use should be intermittent for a few days at a time when needed. Due to CNS depressive effect do not operate heavy machinery and do not consume alcohol while on this medication.
What should I watch for while using this medication?
Before starting Methocarbamol, Robaximol/Robaxin make sure your physician is aware of any allergies or medications you currently take, if you have liver disease, kidney disease, or a history of seizures.
What if I miss a dose?
If you miss a dose of medication, try to take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, take only that scheduled dose. Do not take double or extra doses.
How should I store this medication?
Keep out of the reach of children at all times. Store at room temperature, 59 to 86° F (15 to 30° C). Protect from light. Keep the container tightly closed. Properly dispose of any unused medication after the expiration date.
What are the possible side effects of using this medication?
Nausea, vomiting, fatigue, headache, flushing, trouble sleeping, stuffy nose, metallic taste, injection site pain.
