What is this medication?
Prednisolone (Ophthalmic), Pred Forte/Pred Mild
Prednisolone (Ophthalmic)/Pred Forte/Pred Mild is indicated for corneal injury, ophthalmic inflammatory conditions.
How does this medication work?
Prednisolone (Ophthalmic)/Pred Forte/Pred Mild reduces inflammation via inhibiting edema, migration of leukocytes, capillary proliferation/dilation, and fibrin deposition. It also reduces collagen deposition and reduces the formation of scar tissue.
What should I watch for while using this medication?
Before starting Prednisolone (Ophthalmic)/Pred Forte/Pred Mild make sure your physician is aware of any allergies or medications you currently take, if you are pregnant, or breastfeeding.
How should I take this medication?
Apply to affected eye(s) every 2-12 hours depending on dosage form and severity of condition
How to Take: Follow instructions provided by physician/pharmacy label, use consistently at same times each day unless otherwise directed, store at room temperature. Shake suspension before use and apply light pressure to lacrimal sac (inside corner of eye near nose) for 60 seconds after application to prevent drainage of the drop from eye.
You Need to Avoid: Do not wear contact lenses when applying and wait at least 15 minutes before reinserting, do not touch tip of applicator to any surfaces or to the eye itself to avoid contamination
What if I miss a dose?
If you miss a dose of medication, try to take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, take only that scheduled dose. Do not take double or extra doses.
How should I store this medication?
Keep out of the reach of children at all times. Store at room temperature, 8 to 24° C (46 to 75° F) protected from light, heat, and moisture. Keep the container tightly closed. Properly dispose of any unused medication after the expiration date.
What are the possible side effects of using this medication?
Secondary ocular infection increased intraocular pressure, wound healing impairment.
