What is this medication?
Orphenadrine is indicated for treatment of muscle spasms.
How does this medication work?
Orphenadrine has an indirect muscle relaxant effect and helps to reduce muscle spasm and pain through actions on the motor cortex or the medulla of the brain.
How should I take this medication?
Usual (IM, IV): 60mg every 12 hours.
How to Take: IM, IV administration should only be used for acute relief.
What should I watch for while using this medication?
Before starting Orphenadrine make sure your physician is aware of any allergies or medications you currently take, and activities you perform as it may cause physical and mental impairment. Orphenadrine should be used with caution in patients with cardiovascular disease, and history of drug abuse and/or acute alcoholism.
Note: Do not use in patients with glaucoma, GI obstruction, peptic ulcer, benign prostatic hyperplasia, bladder neck obstruction, myasthenia gravis.
What if I miss a dose?
If you miss a dose of medication, try to take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, take only that scheduled dose. Do not take double or extra doses.
How should I store this medication?
Keep out of the reach of children at all times. Store at room temperature, 59 to 86° F (15 to 30° C). Protect from light. Keep the container tightly closed. Properly dispose of any unused medication after the expiration date.
What are the possible side effects of using this medication?
Palpitations, tachycardia, agitation, dizziness, hallucinations, pruritis, nausea, vomiting, xerostomia, urinary retention, muscle weakness and tremor, blurred vision, nystagmus, nasal congestion.
