What is this medication?
Tyrosine Kinase Inhibitor
Indicated for treatment of chronic fibrosing interstitial lung disease, idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis, systemic sclerosis-associated interstitial lung disease.
How does this medication work?
Nintedanib, Ofev inhibits tyrosine kinase inhibitor (TKI) and blocks the intracellular signaling which is crucial for the proliferation, migration and transformation of fibroblasts involved in the progression of pulmonary fibrosis.
How should I take this medication?
Oral: 100mg – 150mg every 12 hours.
How to Take: Take with food. Swallow capsules whole with liquid; do not chew or crush (bitter taste).
What should I watch for while using this medication?
Before starting Nintedanib, Ofev make sure your physician is aware of any allergies or medications you currently take. There is an increase risk of bleeding, especially epistaxis, arterial thromboembolic events, nausea, vomiting and diarrhea when taking Nintedanib, Ofev.
What if I miss a dose?
If you miss a dose of medication, try to take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, take only that scheduled dose. Do not take double or extra doses.
How should I store this medication?
Keep out of the reach of children at all times. Store at room temperature, 59 to 86° F (15 to 30° C). Protect from light. Keep the container tightly closed. Properly dispose of any unused medication after the expiration date.
What are the possible side effects of using this medication?
Skin ulcer, weight loss, abdominal pain, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, elevated liver enzymes, fatigue and nasopharyngitis.
