How does this medication work?
Prednicarbate, Dermatop may reduce the formation, release, and activity of inflammatory mediators such as kinins, histamine and prostaglandins. Reduces cell migration to the affected area and reverses the dilation and blood vessel permeability result in decreased access of cells to the site. It has anti-inflammatory, vasoconstrictive, and antipruritic properties. It has an intermediate range potency.
How should I take this medication?
Topical: Cream, ointment: Apply a thin film to affected area twice daily. Therapy should be discontinued when control is achieved.
How to Take: For external use only.
You Need to Avoid: Do not use on diaper area, face, groin area, underarm or open wounds. Do not cover with occlusive dressings.
What should I watch for while using this medication?
Before starting Prednicarbate, Dermatop make sure your physician is aware of any allergies or medications you currently take, if you have an active skin infection, diaper dermatitis, are pregnant, or breastfeeding. Prednicarbate, Dermatop use has been associated with rare but serious adverse events such as adrenal suppression, contact dermatitis, immunosuppression, Kaposi sarcoma, and other systemic effects.
What if I miss a dose?
If you miss a dose of medication, try to take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, take only that scheduled dose. Do not take double or extra doses.
How should I store this medication?
Keep out of the reach of children at all times. Store at room temperature, 59 to 86° F (15 to 30° C). Protect from light. Keep the container tightly closed. Properly dispose of any unused medication after the expiration date.
What are the possible side effects of using this medication?
Side effects are uncommon with this medication however some that may occur are skin atrophy and telangiectasia.
