Ivabradine is indicated for management of heart failure symptoms.

How does this medication work? 

Ivabradine, Lancora/Corlanor inhibits the H2 histamine receptor in stomach parietal cells which inhibits gastric acid secretion, gastric volume reduction, and raises pH level.

How should I take this medication? 

Oral: 2.5-7.5mg twice daily

How to Take: Administer with food. Oral solution can be used for adults unable to swallow tablets. For oral solution, empty entire contents of ampule(s) into a medication cup; use a calibrated oral syringe to measure prescribed dose from the medication cup. Discard any unused oral solution. 

What should I watch for while using this medication? 

Before starting Ivabradine, Lancora/Corlanor make sure your physician is aware of any allergies or medications you currently take, if you have acute decompensated heart failure, clinically significant hypotension, sick sinus syndrome, sinoatrial block, or third-degree AV block (unless a functioning demand pacemaker is present), clinically significant bradycardia, severe hepatic impairment, pacemaker dependence (heart rate maintained exclusively by the pacemaker), concomitant use with strong CYP3A4 inhibitors, are pregnant, or breastfeeding. Ivabradine, Lancora/Corlanor use has been associated with rare but serious adverse events such as atrial fibrillation, bradycardia, conduction disturbances, and visual disturbances.

What if I miss a dose?

If you miss a dose of medication, try to take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, take only that scheduled dose. Do not take double or extra doses.

How should I store this medication?

Keep out of the reach of children at all times. Store at room temperature, 59 to 86° F (15 to 30° C). Protect from light. Keep the container tightly closed. Properly dispose of any unused medication after the expiration date.

What are the possible side effects of using this medication?

Side effects are uncommon with this medication however some that may occur are headache, diarrhea, and constipation.
