What is this medication?
Nebivolol, Bystolic is indicated for treatment of peripheral edema, bradycardia, headache, fatigue, dizziness, insomnia, diarrhea.
How does this medication work?
Nebivolol, Bystolic is a highly selective beta1-adrenergic receptor blocker and reduces peripheral vascular resistance while significantly increasing stroke volume. The net hemodynamic effect is Nebivolol, Bystolic is a balance between a reduction in blood pressure while maintaining overall cardiac output.
How should I take this medication?
Oral: Take 5mg to 40mg daily.
Take with or without food.
What should I watch for while using this medication?
Before starting Nebivolol, Bystolic make sure your physician is aware of any allergies or medications you currently take. Use Nebivolol, Bystolic with caution if you have a history of severe anaphylaxis as concurrent beta-blocker use can make epinephrine ineffective. Patients with bronchospastic disease should never use beta blockers. Nebivolol, Bystolic has the potential to worsen diabetes, heart failure, peripheral vascular disease, psoriasis, thyroid disease.
What if I miss a dose?
If you miss a dose of medication, try to take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, take only that scheduled dose. Do not take double or extra doses.
How should I store this medication?
Keep out of the reach of children at all times. Store at room temperature, 59 to 86° F (15 to 30° C). Protect from light. Keep the container tightly closed. Properly dispose of any unused medication after the expiration date.
What are the possible side effects of using this medication?
Peripheral edema, bradycardia, chest pain, headache, fatigue, insomnia, dizziness, weakness.
