What is this medication?
Beclomethasone (Nasal), Rivanase AQ/Beconase AQ
Beclomethasone (Nasal), Rivanase AQ/Beconase AQ is indicated for allergic rhinitis, nasal polyps, and non-allergic rhinitis (may be used for conditions not listed)
How does this medication work?
Beclomethasone (Nasal), Rivanase AQ/Beconase AQ may reduce the formation, release, and activity of inflammatory mediators such as kinins, histamine and prostaglandins. Reduces cell migration to the affected area and reverses dilation and blood vessel permeability resulting in decreased access of cells to the site.
How should I take this medication?
1-2 sprays in each nostril once or twice a day depending on the product used.
How to Take: Follow instructions provided by physician/pharmacy label, use consistently at same times each day unless otherwise directed, store at room temperature and shake gently before use. May need to prime the pump by using a few times until a fine mist appears. Blow nose to clear nostrils then insert spout, aim away from septum, and lightly sniff as you spray.
You Need to Avoid: Avoid contact with eyes or mouth.
What should I watch for while using this medication?
Before starting Beclomethasone (Nasal), Rivanase AQ/Beconase AQ make sure your physician is aware of any allergies or medications you currently are taking, if you have severe liver disease, cataracts, glaucoma, an active infection, are pregnant or breastfeeding.
What if I miss a dose?
If you miss a dose of this medicine, apply it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule. Do not use two doses at one time.
How should I store this medication?
Keep out of the reach of children at all times. Store between 15-30°C (59-86°F). Shake well before each use.
What are the possible side effects of using this medication?
Nasopharyngitis and nosebleed are the two most common side effects, with rates of others being very low.
